Q: I have a fever, respiratory problems, shortness of breath, a cough and sore throat. Should I come to class? 

A. No. Please defer enrolment until you are well.

 

Q. Are you a Registered Training Organisation?
A. Yes. CBD College is also 100% Australian owned and has been a Registered Training Organisation for over a decade. We specialise in providing training programs to achieve timely and cost effective solutions for our clients.

 

Q. Can I enrol if I am in Australia on a student visa? 
A. Yes you can.

 

Q. What if my employer says I need HLTAID003 Provide first aid? You offer HLTAID011. What is the difference?
A. The first three codes mentioned above are old and have all been superseded. HLTAID011 Provide first aid is the current generalist first aid certificate that all Australian workplaces need. For more information, see https://training.gov.au/Training/Details/HLTAID011

 

Q. Are your certificates issued at the end of the class?
A. So long as you have successfully completed the online learning and you are assessed as competent in all practical demonstrations and role plays on the day of your practical class, a PDF of your nationally recognised Statement of Attainment will be made available to you in your student portal within 24 hours of your class from CBD College Pty Ltd, RTO 91399.

 

Q. What are the requirements for CPR? Do I have to get on my knees to perform it?
A. Yes you do. You need to demonstrate a 2 minute continuous period of performing CPR on an adult manikin which must be placed on the floor (same with child manikin for those doing HLTAID012). CPR on infant manikins needs to be for 2 minutes on a firm surface.

 

Q. What if I cannot get on my knees to perform CPR?
A. According to government regulations, we will be unable to issue you with a Statement of Attainment bearing units codes and names although we can issue you with a simple Statement of Attendance.

 

Q. What is a USI Number?
A. The USI is a reference number made up of ten numbers and letters that:

  • creates a secure online record of your recognised training and qualifications gained in Australia, from all training providers you undertake recognised training with
  • will give you access to your training records and transcripts
  • can be accessed online, anytime and anywhere
  • is free and easy to create and
  • stays with you for life

Q. Do all students need a USI Number?
A. Yes.  All students doing nationally recognised training from January 1, 2018 need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

Q. How do I pay for the first aid class?
A. Payments need to be made for our first aid classes with a credit card online or call us on 1300 628 299 and pay by credit card over the phone, or by coming to our Sydney office Mon-Fri 9am-5pm at the above address to pay by cash, EFTPOS or credit card. Bookings for our first aid courses prior to the day of the course are essential.

 

Q. What do I bring to the first aid class?
A. Please bring photo ID and writing material if you want to take any notes during the first aid course. Our first aid classes start promptly so don’t be late! We will not allow entry if you are more than 15 minutes late and you will need to re-book and pay again for another class. Please wear comfortable clothing and bear in mind that you will be on the ground in some cases performing simulated first aid.

 

Q. Are there any exams on the day of your first aid classes?
A. There are no written exams that need to be undertaken on the day of your first aid class. Assessment will be by way of practical tasks and role plays based on scenarios.

 

Q. How long is the course?
A. Provide First Aid is 6.5 hours (includes 15 minute morning tea break and 45 minute lunch break) and Perform CPR is 2-2.5 hours. Our first aid classes start promptly so don't  be late! We will not allow entry if you are more than 15 minutes late and you will need to re-book and pay again for another class.

 

Q. What is the pre-course work required for Provide First Aid Class?
A. Our course is flexible in delivery and comprises an easy pre-study component followed by a 1 day in-class practical course.
The easy pre-study consists of 100 MCQs which can be done online. The pre-study takes on average 3-5 hours. (You keep answering the questions until you get 100% - as many times as it takes with no time limit)

 

Q. Is there an age limit for your First aid or CPR courses?
A. The age limit is 14 or above unless accompanied by an adult. The accompanying adult also has to pay full price for attending the course.

 

Q. When do classes run?
A. We run first aid courses every week of the year.

 

Q. What level of Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) will I need?
A. Students will need to be able to follow and recall instructions and information provided by the trainer so that they can complete activities that will be assessed. The activities will include demonstrating practical skills competently and recording answers to written questions. With First Aid, these written questions are asked via a pre-course online workbook. You will need to converse in English to take part in the scenarios in class.

 

Q. What level of computer literacy will I need?
A. Given that you will need to complete online learning as part of this course, you will need to be computer-literate.

 

Q. Can I upgrade HLTAID009 to HLTAID011 later and just pay the difference? 
A. No. You will have to book in and pay for HLTAID011 and attend that course in its entirety.

 

Q. Can I upgrade HLTAID011 to HLTAID012 later and just pay the difference?
A. Only if it is within 6 weeks of your successful completion of HLTAID011 with CBD College. If you fall into this category, please call us on 1300 628 299 to book in. If you don`t fall into this category, you will have to book in and pay for HLTAID012 and complete the practical and online components of that course in their entirety.

 

Q. If I have done HLTAID011 and then upgrade to HLTAID012 within the same month, do I need to do all of the Child Care online learning?
A. No. In this case, you will only need to attempt modules 15 and 16 in the Child Care online learning.

Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. We are unable to refund monies for students who do not turn up for first aid classes or decide at a later date after booking that that they do not want to attend. Changes to class times are allowed, but not within 48 hours of the class commencing.

 

Q. What if I have a special need?
A. If you have a special need arising from learning difficulties, emotional or behavioural problems, or physical disabilities, you should contact info@cbdcollege.edu.au prior to course commencement. Please note that CPR needs to be demonstrated on the floor.

 

Q. What student support does CBD College offer?
A. Our trainers and assessors are both experienced and skilled in giving support to learners and in making reasonable adjustments to training and assessment to accommodate learner needs, where required. Where necessary, our trainers and assessors can make themselves available to meet with students outside scheduled course times. Q. What is your policy on access on equity?
A. We do not discriminate against any individual on the basis of race, colour, sex or religion. All students are treated equally. Our instructors will assist and support students where appropriate, especially students with language, literacy, or physical disabilities, as long as the nature of the disability does not preclude them from completing the training and assessment. We do not tolerate discriminatory behaviour from students in any of our classes.

Q. Do you recommend driving in?
A. We do not recommend driving in as we are in the CBD. 

 

Q. Can I bring my baby in to class?
A. Please don't as this will preclude you giving your full attention to the trainer and may disrupt the running of your assessment and others in the class.

 

Q. What do I get when I graduate?
A. After you have completed your assessments and have been deemed Competent, a PDF of your nationally recognised Statement of Attainment will be made available to you in your student portal within 24 hours of your class from CBD College Pty Ltd, RTO 91399.

 

Q. Do I need to do anything before coming to my course?
A. For all first aid courses and coffee courses there is online learning involved which needs to be completed before you attend your course.
